Committee hears remarks from Fung and Feroce; Morgan not in attendance
CRANSTON, R.I. – The Cranston Republican City Committee (CRCC) has unanimously endorsed Cranston Mayor Allan Fung for the 2018 Rhode Island Governor’s race. The Committee heard remarks from Fung and newly announced Republican candidate for governor, businessman Giovanni Feroce.
The Committee hosted a closed question and answer meeting, with both candidates getting five-minute opening remarks followed by 20 minutes for questions from committee members, held at the William Hall Free Library on Broad Street in the Edgewood section of Cranston. After hearing remarks from both Mr. Feroce and Mayor Fung, candidates were asked to leave the room while the committee deliberated. The group nominated and voted unanimously for the endorsement of Allan Fung.
“Our Mayor has successfully implemented a strong blueprint for success in the City of Cranston. His leadership is why Cranston was voted the best place to live in Rhode Island, and one of the top 50 places to live in the country. It is time to take his expertise and his skill set to the state house so he can do the same thing for the entire state, and all hard working Rhode Islanders,” said CRCC treasurer, Steve Agnoli.
CRCC secretary Amy Ricci also was candid in her support for the Mayor. “This endorsement, and quite frankly this race, is a no-brainer,” she said. “Mr. Feroce spoke well, but Mayor Fung has a proven track record of success in Cranston. If you want to see how he will turn our state around, look no further than how he turned around the City of Cranston.”
The Committee also reached out to Republican candidate Patricia Morgan twice with invitations but did not receive a response of her unavailability, until 5 p.m. the evening of the meeting.
The Committee is looking ahead now to hosting their next fundraiser on April 26 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Cucina Rustica on Atwood Avenue in Cranston. Tickets are available for purchase online at www.cranstongop.org/events.
